collaged cut out lion

Use all your collection of hand made papers from the experiment with mark making tutorial to make this little, standing lion. It is made from a folded piece of card so would make a great greetings card and is a fun project to do with little ones.

You will need

  • A selection of paper and cardboard samples from the mark making tutorial. You can use an old cereal packet for the card.

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Pen

Fold a piece of patterned card in half (mine measured approx 200mm x270mm).

Cut out the legs and tail, using the image as a guide.

Open up the folded card and cut off the tail on one side.

Cut out a shape for the head. Mine measured approx. 70mm x 80mm.

Cut out some strips of patterned paper.

With the pattern side of the paper strips facing down, glue a section at the end of each strip and stick them to the back of the face section, positioning them around in a circle. They can overlap each other.

You will end up with this.

Cut out a nose strip and some ears and stick them down.

Finish off the head with a black nose out and eyes. Add some whiskers and stick the head down to the body. He is finished!
